On The Move

People Mover
Detroit, Michigan

At the Michigan Avenue station, Kirk created 14 cast bronze silhouettes of rushing commuters in “On the Move”, as he titled his cast of businesspeople, laborers, children, and shoppers.

Theatrically outlined against gray tile walls, the hurrying figures dash from ground-level entrace to upper-level platform. The largest of these flattened personages, legs spread wide, spans a twenty-three-foot width and bounds up the escalator in a single leap.
